Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Peter Comben

Dr Peter Comben was born in Dalby, Qld, and obtained his MB.BS from the University of Qld in 1979. After intern years in Townsville and Brisbane, he spent 20 years in rural General Practice in Mackay with a 1 year “Sabbatical” with RFDS in Mt Isa. More recently he has been in a group general practice at Tweed Heads South, from 2004-2014. Dr Comben has achieved his FRACGP in 2009. He is interested in General Family Medicine across all generations; he has an interest in Sports Medicine, and is personally a Triathlon “Tragic”, which consumes much of his leisure time. He is married to Denise, with 4 adult children, and lives in Currumbin.

Dr. Lorraine Jones

Dr Jones graduated from Manchester University, UK and she is a fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Her interests include women’s health, family planning, and reproductive health care. She is available for appointments 4 days per week.

Dr. Graham Welch

Dr Graham Welch (M.B.B.S (Adel) is a graduate of The University of Adelaide and is a member of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. His special interests include skin cancer management, chronic disease management . He is available for consultations each week day.

Dr. Darryl D'Souza

Dr Darryl is a Specialist General Practitioner and Fellow with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He trained in Queensland and is a graduate of the University of Queensland Medical School. Darryl has further qualification with a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Dr. Khine Kyaw

Khine obtained his MBBS in October 2005. Khine enjoys all aspects of General medicine however has a special interest in Skin cancer Medicine. Khine completed his Dermoscopy certificate in March 2019.

Khine joined The Pines Family Practice in 2018 and works 5 days per week.

Khine enjoys reading, travelling, sports and keeping fit.

Dr. Maggie Day

Dr Maggie Day is a recent fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Maggie obtained her MBBS from the University of Tasmania and did a couple of years at Wollongong Hospital before completing her GP training in the New England region of NSW. She has recently relocated with her young family and is enjoying living on the Gold Coast. Maggie enjoys all aspects of general practice particularly women’s health and paediatrics.

Rick McKee

General Manager

Rick is the Director and General Manager of The Pines Family Practice. Rick has held this position since 1998 after he took ownership of the practice and turned it into a thriving medical centre. He has completed a Diploma in Professional Practice Management, is a member of the Australian Association of Practice Managers and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
